Uno de cada tres anuncios fraudulentos en Google y Facebook no son retirados
Facebook y Google son incapaces de retirar un gran porcentaje de anuncios publicitarios fraudulentos que son denunciados por los usuarios. A pesar de que en muchas ocasiones la única opción que tienen las víctimas es la de reportar el contenido que han visto en la red social y por la que a veces incluso han sido estafados, y en gran parte de los casos esas denuncias por parte de las víctimas no son tenidas en cuenta por las redes sociales.
Google no es capaz de retirar el 34% de los anuncios fraudulentos denunciados
Se ha entrevistado a 1.870 usuarios de buscadores y 1.360 en redes sociales, el 15% de los encuestados han sido víctimas de un anuncio fraudulento en redes sociales o en buscadores. De ellos, acabaron siendo estafados un 27% en Facebook y un 19% en Google.
A pesar de que en muchos casos los usuarios reportaron los anuncios fraudulentos, Google no fue capaz de eliminar los anuncios denunciados en el 34% de los casos, mientras que en Facebook ese porcentaje fue del 26%. Del total de víctimas, un 43% renunció a denunciar la estafa ante las plataformas.
La principal razón para no hacerlo entre los usuarios de Facebook fue que pensaron que la compañía no iba a actuar, mientras que los que sufrieron la estafa en Google renunciaron a denunciar porque no sabían cómo hacerlo.
Deberían tener la “responsabilidad legal de identificar, retirar y prevenir los anuncios falsos”. De lo contrario, aseguran, podrían ser “potenciales beneficiarios de una actividad criminal
Se acusa a la compañía del buscador de no ofrecer información clara sobre cómo denunciar un anuncio fraudulento. El 51% de los 1.870 usuarios de Google encuestados declararon desconocer qué procedimiento hay que seguir para denunciar la publicidad engañosa, mientras que en Facebook ese porcentaje es del 35% de los 1.630 encuestados.
Es preciso que las compañías tecnológicas adquieran un papel más proactivo en la detección y supresión de la publicidad fraudulenta. El informe asegura que inciden varios factores en esta cuestión: “La inacción de las plataformas cuando se denuncian anuncios de estafas, los bajos niveles de denuncia y la facilidad con la que los anunciantes pueden publicar nueva publicidad fraudulenta cuando se retira uno de los anuncios”.
